BIOGRAPHY OF DEACONESS ALICE OYEPATE ADEBAYO

Deaconess (Princess) Alice Oyepate Adebayo (nee Akinboye) was born on March 23, 1942 into the family of Late Prince Daniel Olayiwola Akinboye and Late Mama Rachael Akinboye of Adeeye Compound, Ejigbo, Osun State.

Education

Mummy attended Baptist Day School, Ejigbo for her primary education from 1956 to 1960. She was at L.A. Modern School, Ejigbo for her Modern Three Certificate from 1960 and The Baptist Women's College, Idi- Aba, Abeokuta from 1969 to 1971 for her Grade II Teacher’s Certificate. She also proceeded to The University of Ibadan, 1980 for her Associate Certificate in Education.

Career     

Mummy worked, diligently, in different positions spanning class teacher to headmistress in the following schools:

  1. Baptist Day School Inisa, Ejigbo.
  2. Baptist Day School, Ejigbo.
  3. St Michael Anglican Pry School, Ila-Orangun.
  4. St Paul’s Anglican Primary School, Ikirun.
  5. C.A.C Primary School, Ikirun.
  6. A.U.D Primary School, Ikirun.
  7. Orimolade Commercial Grammar School, Ikirun.
  8. Saviour's African Primary School, Ikirun.
  9. Community Primary School, Obaagun via Ikirun where she retired as the Headmistress  December, 1996.

Marital life

Mama Alice Oyepate (Nee Akinboye) got married to her heartthrob, Pa Gideon Olaniyan Adebayo on September 27, 1962 at Ejigbo. They were happily married for over fifty (50) years before he was called to be with his Lord on 25th December, 2013. The marriage was blessed with five wonderful children to the glory of God - Iyabode, Adewale, Akindele, Opeyemi and Omobonike, 2 Sons in law, 3 daughters in law and many grandchildren. Documented records from her Late husband Pa Gideon Adebayo showed her to be a lover of God with reverence for both God and her parents. He also attested to her natural endowment of cleanliness which she passed on to her children. He talked about her endurance and patience running the home and training up her children in the way of the Lord. He ends with “ I give glory to God for the wife God chose for me’

Christian Life

Mummy was a lover of Jesus whom she received as her Lord and Saviour and served faithfully, practically, all her life. She was baptized in the year 1955. She became a Sunday school teacher in 1974 and she served, meritoriously, in the department throughout her stay at Ikirun. She was the WMU President at First Baptist Church, Ikirun for many years and the President of Peniel Association in Ikirun as well. She was elected as a Deaconess at First Baptist Church, Oke Owode, Ikirun in October 1991. She was the Secretary of the women's wing of CAN in Ikirun for many years before she relocated to Ejigbo with her husband in 1997. She continued as a Sunday School Teacher and Deaconess at Beulah Baptist Church Ejigbo till her relocation with her husband to Ede on 2nd June 2013. She continued her work of service in United Baptist Church, Ede till her transition.

Awards

Mama Alice Oyepate Adebayo received several awards in recognition of her service, dedication and contribution in God's vineyard. Some of them are from:

  1. The women's wing of CAN in Ikirun on September 15th, 2007.
  2. The Christian Association of Nigeria, Ejigbo chapter, on April 25th, 2011.
  3. The WMU of the United Baptist Church, Ede blessed her with yet another award on the 22nd of May, 2017.

Mama Alice Oyepate Adebayo imparted many lives and lived a life worthy of emulation. Sleep on till we meet at the master’s feet at the resurrection morning
